Advice
Prepare now
NSW SES advises people in the following area(s) to PREPARE NOW for predicted Tropical Cyclone Narelle moving towards the New South Wales coast:
- some
- impacted
- locations
You should stay informed by monitoring warnings issued by NSW SES on their website, HazardWatch and Facebook pages, the Hazards Near Me mobile app, local radio or television, and following the latest weather information from the Bureau of Meteorology online.
What are we expecting?
The Bureau of Meteorology advises a prediction
When the cyclone gets close to the coast:
- Very strong winds could knock down trees, powerlines, blow roofs off some houses, and blow away anything not tied down outside.
- Power, phones, internet and water might stop working.
- Heavy rain and storm surge may cause flooding in some places.
- Roads could be blocked by fallen trees, powerlines or flood water. Some communities might be isolated.
- Shops will close when the cyclone gets closer.
What you need to do:
- If you have a Home/Business Emergency Plan, review it now. Otherwise, have a conversation and plan for what you will do and take with you if you need to evacuate.
- Prepare for dangerous weather by securing boats, caravans, trailers, garden sheds, outdoor furniture, rainwater tanks, gas bottles, loose material and rubbish around your home and workplace.
- Consider the consequences of road and bridge closures and water over roads and make alternate arrangements for work, children, and travel.
- Obey all signs about road closures and instructions from emergency services.
- Avoid storm drains and pipes, ditches, ravines, creeks, and rivers.
- Share this information with family, friends, and neighbours and help others prepare where possible.
